My Kitchen Year Apple Crisp Tea Bags
Apple Crisp Tea
As Ruth Reichl explains, “One of the great joys of fall is the explosion of apples, each with its own unique character.” This tea, inspired by her Apple Crisp recipe, showcases the apple in all its delicious glory. A blend of warm baking spices will fill your own kitchen with the aromas of the season.
My Kitchen Year: 136 Recipes that Saved My Life by Ruth Reichl
This flavorful tea is inspired by My Kitchen Year, Ruth Reichl’s acclaimed cookbook. The recipes in My Kitchen Year follow the change of seasons, and the stories capture Ruth’s emotional healing after the abrupt shutting of her beloved Gourmet magazine. Each dish Ruth prepares, over the course of this challenging year, becomes a stepping stone to finding joy again in ordinary things.
Apple Crisp Recipe (see page 37 of My Kitchen Year)
5 heirloom apples
2/3 cup flour
2/3 cup brown sugar
6 tablespoons sweet butter
Peel a few different kinds of apples, enjoying the way they shrug reluctantly out of their skins.
Core, slice, and layer the apples into a buttered pie plate or baking dish and toss them with the juice of the lemon.
Mix the flour with the brown sugar, and add a dash of salt and a grating of fresh cinnamon.
Using two knives—or just your fingers—cut in the butter, then pat the mixture over the top of the fruit.
The cooking time is forgiving; you can put your crisp into a 375-degree oven and pretty much forget it for 45 minutes to an hour. The juices should be bubbling a bit at the edges; the top should be crisp, golden; and fragrant. Served warm with a pitcher of cream; it makes you grateful for fall.

This tea is in my top three (and I drink a lot of tea). Would love to see it offered in bulk and refill options, ROT.
this tea is so yummy! it is sweet and has the apple flavor that i was hoping it would have. I can drink this without any sugar and just a splash of milk, but sometimes i will put a little bit of honey in it. This tea is must have! I'll have to buy more of it because it it is just that good.
Smells and tastes AMAZING!
I actually made the Apple Crisp recipe out of Ruth Reichl's cookbook and I can honestly say that this tea does an incredible job of capturing both the taste and aroma. I have been drinking it nonstop since it arrived. One of my new favorites!
