2012 First Flush Shincha Full-Leaf

2012 First Flush Shincha Full-Leaf

In celebration of spring, we are offering this first-flush Sencha, known as Shincha(literally “new tea”), plucked on May 1, 2012— The Republic of Tea’s 20th Anniversary and the 88th day after the spring equinox. In Japan, it is said that if one drinks a cup of this “88 Night Shincha,” this person will enjoy a year of good health. Perhaps this can be attributed to the concentration of nutrients stored all winter in these first harvested spring leaves.

Shincha is treasured by tea connoisseurs around the world for its absolute purity and essential taste of spring. The season’s first, tender leaves become a light, golden-green infusion in the cup with a refreshing, grassy aroma. a soft and smooth umami nectar then emerges on the palate with hints of sweet potato and pear and a long, buttery finish.
