Zak the Yak with Books on His Back

Zak the Yak with Books on His Back

This whimsical book was written and illustrated in honor of Room to Read's ten year anniversary by Founder and Board Chair, John Wood. The story follows Zak, a yak from Nepal, on his quest to bring books to all the school children of Bahundanda.

Zak loves to travel, and over a cup of tea with a new friend he hears the sad tale of local school children who are eager to learn but do not have the books or resources. Zak is determined to help the students.

Every book sold will put 10 local language children's books into the hands of eager young readers. We hope you will be able to help us bring the lifelong gift of literacy to many millions of children, and set them on the path to becoming independent readers.

This is a charming book. It isn't at all preachy. My 7 year old son and I both enjoyed it very much.
