Conscious Sourcing

The Republic of Tea sources only the highest-quality tea grown in the premier tea gardens in the world. From the Wuyi Mountains of China to the island of Sri Lanka, we treasure our long term relationships with each supplier.

All of our teas are naturally produced. All of our teas are inspected and undergo the most stringent of quality assurance processes at the garden level before they are shipped. Once they arrive at our packaging facility, they are inspected again.

We take this process very seriously to ensure that we’re providing our Citizens with the highest quality and safest teas from each unique origin.

Fair Trade & Organic

Whenever possible we source Fair Trade Certified and Certified Organic tea, rooibos and herbs. However, it is financially challenging for some of the smaller gardens we work with to gain the Fair Trade Certified stamp. Similarly, some tea gardens practice organic standards but are not Certified Organic.

The Ethical Tea Partnership

In keeping with our commitment to conduct business in the most socially and environmentally conscious manner possible, we are honored to be a member of the Ethical Tea Partnership (ETP). This non-commercial alliance of major tea packing companies works to promote social responsibility in the world tea trade and to ensure the ethical sourcing of tea. All members of the ETP share four core beliefs:
• We have a shared responsibility for the social and ethical conditions involved in sourcing the tea we buy.
• Activities in this area should be non-competitive and apolitical.
• We respect the culture and legislation in tea-producing countries, but aspire to international standards.
• We seek to work in partnership with tea producers.

The Rainforest Alliance
The Republic of Tea has recently TEAmed up with the Rainforest Alliance to source increasing amounts of tea, rooibos and herbs from Rainforest Alliance Certified™ gardens and farms. The Rainforest Alliance works with people whose livelihood depends on the land, helping them to transform the way they grow food, harvest wood and host travelers. Rainforest Alliance Certified farms protect forests, waterways, wildlife habitat and the rights and welfare of workers, their families and their communities.

The Republic of Tea reminds its Citizens to always consider the source.
