A great strong green tea IMHO. I sometimes blend with the tea of inquiry.
This is one of my favorite green teas. It has a toasty flavor that you can savor
I bought this tea not really knowing what I was getting. I had confused it with a tea I had tried at a local restaurant. I was very pleasantly surprised by it. It's earthy, but not in an overpowering way. I really enjoy this tea and will buy it again.
This is a long time favorite in our home! We have tried the same tea from other companies and none compare to what Republic of Tea offers!
I have been drinking Japanese hoji-cha for decades and this is a good one, with the typical lightly sweet, roasted flavor.
I've started drinking more green tea, and I'm so happy I took a chance with this one. It's quickly turned into a tea I crave and look forward to sipping every day and I can't not resteep it after the first cup. It's comforting, toasty, and delicious.
So very very good. I drink this nearly every morning and have a stash at home and at work. Roasting the leaves completely changes the character. It's fullbodied and rich, kinda earthy and woody. If you like puerh, you'll like this tea.
This is the first time I tried Hojicha and I am very pleased. It reminds me of a classic oolong with a slightly intense flavor- in a good way. I have also blending it with other Republic of Tea loose leafs to add a deeper, smokey flavor profile and am enjoying the results. I have added a bit of Hojicha to both black and green varieties with equal success. It will also re-steep well. This is a versatile tea to have on hand.
I love that this tea has a earthy smell/flavor but is also sweet
Great tea
So happy to find loose-leaf hojicha! I used to go to a local coffee shop for this (Peet's) but they don't carry hojicha anymore at all. I get my other teas from Republic so I was happy to find this here as well.
Roasty smelling like sencha but with the delightfully delicate sweetness on the finish.
Perfect late morning tea after an initial morning caffeine rush. Low on the buzz and high of warm, woody, flavor that hydrates and warms the mind.
This tea is interesting to say the least. Interesting flavors and scents. Am currently enjoying this one
I don't drink tea because I don't really care for it, EXCEPT for Big Green. The roasted tea leaves gives me a full bodied, flavorful, and wonderful aroma. The leaves let me seep it longer with no bitter taste. Really love this tea.
I've been purchasing this tea for years. While it's amazing on it's own, I sometimes like to make a blend with their Organic Dancing Leaves green tea. I drink a cup every morning to get my day going.
I absolutely love Big Green Hojicha, despite the relatively low caffeine content of green tea, this tea is super invigorating. I have a cup most afternoons to get me through the end of the work day!
I've been purchasing the Big Green Hojicha loose leaf tea for a couple of decades and it's the best tasting tea. The Republic of Tea is the only business I know that sells it and delivery is quick. Very happy customer here.
Very tasty tea, I like that roasted flavor.
Is a drinkable tea. Less acidic tasting than regular green tea with a pleasant mouth-feel.
Excellent tea hot or cold! We hot-brewed this tea last month and put it in the refrigerator. It is full-flavored yet light and refreshing. No sugar or milk needed - just drink and enjoy!
This one remains my all-time favorite tea. It's perfect any time.
This tea is very good and it is great that it is also organic. However, now I no longer can afford this tea. Usually roasted green tea is a very affordable tea compared to other green teas. But now this tea has increased in price significantly here, and the 1 lb bag is no longer available (now it is 0.75 lb and way more expensive than before) and sadly I will replace it with other organic roasted green tea that are affordable and also good.
This was my first foray into the world of green tea and I absolutely loved it! The warm earthy flavor of the tea is very comforting and I love the way it wakes me up when I am feeling a bit down. However, it does not have too much caffeine and I am able to drink it up to an hour before I go to bed and still fall asleep. I would recommend this tea to everyone!
Chop wood, carry water tea! This tea is everything I love about Japanese green tea, with nice woody/nutty notes. It's almost like a nice, light oolong. Perfect at mealtime, or anytime, and good for a second steep. Love it!
I love this robust and full flavored green tea. I drink it almost daily and often get a second--and sometimes a third--steeping. A real favorite.
For those whose love of green tea can embrace the roasted twig type and the richness of its smoky aroma and flavor. Very few other green teas are as satisfying to me. I truly love it.
A robust flavor, none of this sublte business. Really picks up my energy in the middle of an afternoon with lots yet to do. None of the "jitters" from high cafeen products.
i've been drinking this tea for a long time and it's one of my all time favorites. if you like a strong green tea to lift you in the morning or bring you back to life in the afternoon, give this one a try.
This is a very roasted tasting tea. I would say that it is not a "traditional" green tea taste. My first sip I wasn't very impressed but as it cooled and I got a better taste I realized this is an wonderful tea. Its a cozy fire on a cold night kind of comfort when I drink this tea. Definitely one I will drink on a daily basis.
I love this tea. The discription given is right on. It really is a wonderful earthy tea. I like mine in the evening just before bed and early in the morning when I'm getting ready for my day.
Tis a Real Man's tea. It is the tea I prefer while boarding an enemy frigate, or while swinging on a vine and roasting a squirrel with my lighter. Aaaarrrrrgh!
This is an excellent green tea. It has a lot of depth and some sweet smokiness to it. It tastes great multiple infusions (at least 2-3 times)... Loving it!!!!
A fantastic green tea. You get exactly what is promised in the description; Big Green Hojicha is a great Hojicha tea with a nutty flavor in the forefront built upon a multi-layered earthy base. It smells like fallen leaves. A must have in my opinion; you'd be hard-pressed to find a better example of this taste profile!
