This honey is produced only a few times a year, so grab it while you can. It's creamy and there are floral notes of plumeria, ginger, and even pikake. I haven't tasted any notes of actual kiawe (mesquite), but this honey is divine and we've been using it for years since discovering it in Honolulu. It keeps in the fridge if you're not going to use all of it immediately, but the jar doesn't seem to last very long in our home.

It's actually the only reason I'm sold on the Cranberry Spice Hibiscus tea. I tried it first without honey, and was unimpressed. Then I added this honey to it, and it did a masterful job of bringing out the flavors of the tea.

I have tried it with every type/flavor of TRoT teas that I own and I am yet to find any that this honey doesn't pair perfectly with! Instead of overpowering the teas, this light honey seems to bring out the natural flavors even more with just the right sweetness to back them up. I prefer loose leaf teas and would recommend not using more than 1/2 of the "official" TRoT teaspoon of this honey per cup (I like sweeter teas, but I find I usually use about 1/4). To be honest, I often catch myself dipping-in to the jar for a little taste of the honey only while I'm waiting for my tea to steep.

Grew up with Hawaiian lehua honey and never realized how much I missed it until I saw this jar offered in a RofT catalog a few years ago. I ordered a jar and was blown away not only with the quality, taste and unbelievable smoothness but at the fond memories just spreading it on my morning toast brought back. I've turned my brother on to this honey as I was tired of him finding the hiding place for my honey in my kitchen. We both now guard our treasure just for ourselves!

This thick, pale, sweet, organic honey is like nothing I have ever tasted before. As others have mentioned, there is no aftertaste. I think the price is fair given that it is coming from Hawaii in limited quantities. I love it in any type of tea. That said, my 4 year old and I also will have a spoon of it as dessert!

It is very solid, which makes me wonder if it has a high bees wax content. When I savor the floral flavor, it makes me think of the tropical Hawaiian flowers that the bees collect pollen from...very exotic. :-)
