I am enjoying this product and am on the third bag now. I see the reviews complaining it makes too much, but I just cut the portions down and make it in small batches.
I had a hard time making these boba. I made the first batch in the pressure cooker and they were too soft, then I made them on the stove top and they were still too mushy. I really wanted to like them. They would have made a better tapioca pudding…
Quite Disappointed. Once again, I made a purchase from Republic of Tea, and I suppose I will either give it away (not the intention for it to be a gift) or never get to use it. DEFINITELY READ ALL of the description of this item before you purchase! First, of all, these boba will take you over an hour to prepare to be ready to use; and it's a fairly attention demanding prep (stir frequently). The preparation supplied is for the WHOLE bag, which is listed to be 12 servings. Further, once prepared, you have 3 (maybe 4 ?) to use ALL of the boba. I never expected to be drinking 12 boba teas in 3 or 4 days, so this is very impractical for a single person to consume. (I do realize I can share it, and this would make use of the product, but again, this isn't as easy as it sounds! People that I know are quite divided on boba tea appreciation, and it's a shame to force it on those who don't care for it. I don't have 12 people handy who would love this as I would to share it with within 3 or 4 days.) Nevertheless, I pursued looking for other options for preparations of lesser amounts of the boba so that I might find a single serving prep or maybe up to a three serving prep - only to come up with this product is steeped in a controversy over cultural appropriation. (Otherwise, I did not find any guidance for making smaller quantities - I do realize that I can mathematically calculate ratios to prepare lesser quantities, but I was hoping that there might have been some posts/instructions, so it's not just an experimental attempt on my part). So, here I am, and I can only question myself, why did I even buy this? So, if you are considering buying this, please be aware of what you are taking on here with a purchase. Good Luck! I think this boba is ok, but not as firm as I would have liked, and is not the very solid black boba. I did, however, love the packaging which seems to be left over from tea bads.
This tea confuses me. I am an old-school tapioca pudding, person, and this tea Blurs the tea/pudding concepts.. I'm not sur what I'm supposed to be experiencing or enjoying. This was served to me by a niece and I am unsure as to what it's supposed to taste like or how it's supposed to make me feel.
Ohhhhhh....this boba is incredible...and it's all natural without all of those synthetic, gross ingredients? I enjoyed it immensely, using the milk tea kit. Delicious. I almost did not purchase because of the 1-star review on this site, but I'm so glad I went with my gut and tried it anyway. I was definitely not disappointed, and will be buying this again!!! Thank you, Better Boba!
I bought it as a set with the Tablespoon Milk tea (which I loved) - but I am not sure what to do with this, or what it is supposed to be. The instructions on the bag say to boil the entire bag for 40 minutes, stirring frequently, then let sit covered for 25 minutes. This makes 12 servings which have to be refrigerated if not used immediately, but even if refrigerated it needs to be used within 3 days (which is 4 servings a day to use up before it goes bad). When I called customer service of ROT they just read the instructions from the bag to me. I decided to economize and just cook 4 Tablespoons of the beadlets, and they did cook up like tapioca - but turned brown - and I added them to my tea to give it a go - but honestly, they are tasteless, sink to the bottom, and are too large to be sucked up with an ordinary straw (doesn’t that look like a straw on the front of the bag). So I just ate them with a spoon after the tea was drank - they are something like a slimy, tasteless gummy bear - and I did rinse them as instructed, and have the other serving sitting in the fridge for later. If someone served this to you in a foreign country you would be leery lol. I can’t see a reason to add it to your tea.
