Sencha Kyoto Full-Leaf Loose Green Tea is grown in the Uji region which is famous for producing Japan's most exclusive green teas. This blend of first and second flush leaves resemble pine needles and steep into a clear, verdant green cup. The flavor is clean and robust with a vegetal top note. Perfect with savory foods.

Green tea contains less than a quarter the amount of caffeine per cup than in a similar-sized cup of coffee. More about caffeine.

Steeping Instructions

Steeping green tea is easy. Simply heat fresh, filtered water just short of boiling. Then pour water over tea and steep for 1-3 minutes (if using a tea bag) or 2-4 minutes (if using full-leaf tea.)

I've been trying cold brews of a number of different teas. This is one that is definitely better cold brewed than hot. Bright green flavor with a hint of strawberries. I was initially put off by the amount of sediment produced, but then learned that this is desired with sencha.

I'm surprised that there are so few reviews. This is by far some of the best green tea I have ever tasted. I find myself getting distracted sniffing the tin when I pass through the kitchen. Very sweet and flavorful, and OMG the smell! Do yourself a favor and buy this tea, you can thank me later!

I fell in love with Sencha tea after having it at a sushi bar. The taste of Republic of Tea's sencha is wonderful, earthy and flavorful. I wish they would make it in a tea bag.

Sencha Kyoto tastes intriguingly deep green and, for my needs, gives exactly the right amount of brisk yet mellow caffeine. After savoring many other green teas, I've decided that this is my favorite one.

5 Stars Finally a REAL JAPANESE TEA!

A good quality, real Japanese green tea is so rare to find outside of Japan (I should know, my mom is Japanese and I lived there for several years). But this sencha has fulfilled that void for me. Beautiful green color, vibrant and vegetal. Perfection.
