Gets boring fast, and pretty nasty when it cools down

I eat at this local Korean restaurant that serves a tea I always enjoyed, and they told me the Korean name and found out it was the same as Genmaicha. So I was excited when I found RoT sold a can. I ordered it and loved the burnt rice aroma of the opened can and how it smelled when it brewed. First cup was great. After a few days though I found it was getting harder to drink. Then I started bringing it to work where I am a cook and I periodically sip on it. When it’s warm it’s definitely toasty and full, and pretty nice. When it’s cold I felt like I was drinking sea sesame oil and it actually made me nauseated. Not the tea itswlf, but psychologically as I was drinking it I kept thinking of a bottle of sesame oil and it made my stomach churn. Like I said the tea is nice and toasty, smells great, and you can be heavy handed with how much you brew since it isn’t overpowering. But drinking it all the time, and after my experience with it cold, kind of turned me off of it. Good product but one I will enjoy when I go to my Korean restaurant once in a blue moon, instead of drinking it regularly at home.

A good tea companion for reading and/or at work

I've bought this loose-leaf tea for years -- by the big bag. It's my go-to tea for when I want to sit down and think. At work it was my desk tea; at home, I drinking when reading or working on a project. It's a hearty tea with a reliable flavor and, of all the teas with toasted rice that I've tasted, it has the best roast and best balance of rice to tea.

Delicious!!

I just got this one yesterday. It is super authentic to the genmaicha I used to drink in Japan.

Smells Bad!

Tea smelled fine when I opened the tin. After brewing, however, the smell was really bad! The taste wasn't quite as bad. I suppose the smell came from the toasted rice? I took a few more sips to see if it would grow on my, but it didn't. Threw out that cup of tea and then the tea itself. Will not purchase again. Wasted $5.00.

This is a delicious and almost filling tea. Very earthy and toasty. It reminds me a bit of the tea blends used in Japanese restaurants. One of my new favorites.
