Tea for Hydration

Tea for Hydration

We all know that we should be drinking more water. It seems like everyone – from health experts to personal trainers – wants us to drink at least eight glasses of water a day to stay properly hydrated.

But that can be hard to accomplish, even for the most health-conscious individuals. Whether you get too busy, forget your water bottle at home while you run errands, or simply have a hard time enjoying the taste of water, there are challenges that prevent many of us from drinking the recommended daily amount of H2O.

Here’s the good news: tea counts as water! The beverage we all love so much – whether it’s green tea, black tea , or even herb tea – helps us stay hydrated and counts toward our eight-glass total.

Let’s put an old myth out to pasture before we proceed: People used to believe that caffeinated drinks, such as tea and coffee, actually stripped the body of water and therefore led to dehydration. This myth has been refuted by reputable sources such as WebMD and Huffington Post and we now know that the high water content in these drinks helps keep you hydrated. While caffeinated teas could have a mild diuretic effect, they do not negate the water intake from drinking tea.

Are you an herbal tea lover? These caffeine-free teas are wonderfully hydrating and endlessly interesting for your taste buds. With varieties like rooibos and chamomile, they make drinking more water a very enjoyable to-do to check off your list! If you are looking for an even easier way to stay hydrated, try one of our Hydration Single Sips®

But there is no need to limit yourself to caffeine-free teas in order to stay hydrated. Even caffeinated varieties, from low-caffeine tea to our new HiCAF™ strong teas, contribute much-needed water to your body.

So now you can put a tea kettle on and sip away with a smile knowing that you are doing your body a favor. Don’t you wish that all health goals were this easy (and delicious!) to reach?
